Our mouths are full of bacteria. These bacteria, along with mucus and other particles, constantly form a sticky, colorless plaque” on teeth. Brushing and flossing help get rid of plaque. Plaque that is not removed can harden and form “tartar that brushing doesn’t clean. Only a professional cleaning by a dentist or dental hygienist can remove tartar.
The periodontist removes the plaque by scaling and root planing. Scaling means scraping off the tartar from above and below the gum line. Root planing gets rid of rough spots on the tooth root where the germs gather, and helps remove bacteria that contribute to the disease.
Early diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease are essential in keeping your teeth for life.
At Hai Dent newer technologies like ultrasonics and LASER assisted cleaning are performed. Lasers represent an innovative and more precise technology for specific hard and soft tissue applications.
Teeth whitening can be a highly effective way of lightening the natural colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surface. It cannot make a complete colour change; but it will lighten the existing shade.
There are a number of reasons why you might get your teeth whitened. Everyone is different; and just as our hair and skin colour vary, so do our teeth. Very few people have brilliant-white teeth, and our teeth can also become more discoloured as we get older.
Your teeth can also be stained on the surface through a lot of colour containing food and drinks such as tea, coffee, red wine and blackcurrant. Smoking can also stain teeth.
Calculus or tartar can also affect the colour of the teeth. Some people may have staining under the surface , which can be caused by certain antibiotics or tiny cracks in the teeth which take up stains. At Hai Dent we can provide in office ZOOM whitening and home whitening.
In modern times of today, every individual is making concious efforts to look desirable and presentable. when everyone is in persuit of beauty, no wonder patients comes to dentists desiring perfect smile like billboard models. Having asthetic dentistry evolved largely inpast few years, there are different invasive and non invasive techniques to enhance patient's esthetic dental appearance.
Speaking of Non- invasive in terms of non exposure of inner layers of tooth like dentine, pulp, with relatively not major operative work, many cases can be managed by procedures like Bleaching giving individual whiter and pleasant esthetic appearance retaining his/her natural teeth as they are.
Bleaching In dentistry is treatment modality involving Oxidative Process that alters Light absorbing and/or light reflecting nature of material structure thereby inceasing the perception of whiteness in terms of Hue.
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is the active ingredient most commonly used in whitening products and is delivered as either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is analogous to carbamide peroxide as it is released when the stable complex is in contact with water. When it diffuses into the tooth, hydrogen peroxide acts as an oxidising agent that breaks down to produce unstable free radicals. In the spaces between the inorganic salts in tooth enamel, these unstable free radicals attach to organic pigment molecules resulting in small, less heavily pigmented components. Reflecting less light, these smaller molecules create a "whitening effect".
Most common indication for bleaching is Staining. Stains are of two types -
1. Extrinsic stains: Causes of extrinsic stains are: Tobacco, Betelnut chewing - Nicotine in Tobacco
Substances in Food spices like turmeric Topical medications like Chlorhexidine mouthwashes
2. Intrinsic Stains: Causes of extrinsic stains are: Tobacco, Betelnut chewing - Nicotine in Tobacco
